Featured Athlete - Jennifer Helbing

Jennifer Helbing

Jennifer Helbing has been a long time client of Fit Crew, having joined the gym in the spring of 2017. Since then she’s fully immersed herself in health and wellness, giving it her all each and every time she walks through the doors for a FitCREW group class and reaping the rewards by lifting heavy and hitting new PRs. Despite having a busy schedule taking care of her children while also overseeing the Lower School at Saint Stephen’s Episcopal School, Jennifer finds time to consistently train and make it work. She also makes mindful nutrition decisions with the help of her nutrition coach, Andrew.

One of the most impressive things about Jennifer’s journey at Fit Crew is how she gets her family involved and leads by example in her pursuit of a healthy lifestyle. Two of her children, Maddox and Amelia, also come to the gym with her and we wouldn’t be surprised to see her youngest, Olivia, join the crew when she’s old enough.

Congratulations, Jennifer!

Tell us about yourself

I'm from Rome, GA and moved to Bradenton six years ago when I accepted a job at Saint Stephen's Episcopal School as the Lower School Director. I have three children, Maddox (11), Amelia (7), and Olivia (2). I have been very active my whole life, really enjoying exercise, being outdoors, and organized sports. I ran Cross Country and Track at the University of Georgia, and continued running half marathons and 10Ks before having children.

How did you get started at Fit Crew?

I have been searching for a way to support my love for fitness and strength training, so I am incredibly excited about what Fit Crew offers. The trainers are extremely knowledgeable and encouraging, the community is friendly and supportive, and the programs provide results! Then, to be able to include my children in my devotion for being healthy and strong will hopefully impact their lives for years to come.

What has been your proudest athletic moment?

While there is not one moment that I can list, I would say that I am proud of each day that I do something to further my wellness. Every step is a demonstration of how dedication and hard work are moving me closer to my goals of being the healthiest that I can be, physically, mentally, and spiritually.

What’s your favorite exercises? Least favorite?

My least favorite movement is (Shannon's favorite!!) burpees! Ugh! They are so hard for me because they combine flexibility, full body strength, and cardio, but I'm learning tricks to make them easier. My favorite lift is deadlifts along with anything that works my lower body.

What do you think makes Fit Crew different from other gyms that you have tried in the past

The people and their shared passion for community and fitness are what make Fit Crew such a wonderful place to work out and spend time.

What do you like to do when you’re not training at Fit Crew?

When I'm not training at Fit Crew, I enjoy playing with my kids and spending time in the sunshine, on the water, and with friends!
