Tell us about yourself

We moved to Bradenton 2 years ago. We’ve been married for almost 20 years and have two amazing teenage daughters, Sarah and Olivia. Both of us are veterinarians and keep busy with our mobile veterinary clinic. We are an active family but didn’t have a serious exercise schedule until we started at Fit Crew.

 

How did you get started at Fit Crew?  

It started when Deb’s doctor recommended seeking nutritional counseling with Andrew. After her first consult, she quickly realized that her diet needed some serious adjustments. It was also the perfect time to begin a better exercise routine, so she scheduled a few personal training sessions with Andrew. Andrew immediately recognized what she needed and her eating and exercise habits rapidly improved. Her new motivation must have been contagious because shortly after, her husband and two daughters joined Fit Crew for personal training. Fit Crew has now become part of the family routine. We work out together several times a week. There is nothing more motivating than having the entire family together for strength and cardio training! After a year of consistently working out and changing my eating habits, I feel like a completely different person. I am stronger, healthier and just feel so much better about myself. Andrew teaches you about accountability like no one can. We joke about it all the time but it’s so true.

What has been your proudest athletic moment?  

Deb - Not fainting after my first week of starting my workouts (lol). Seriously, after my first training session with Andrew, I realized how out of shape I was. There was no more time for excuses and I became more motivated than ever. All of us are proud of each other when we get through an entire cardio workout with no shortcuts!

Deb: least favorite: RDLs / favorite: kettle squats
Tom: least favorite: ring push ups / favorite: weighted squats
Olivia: least favorite: Nordic Hamstring Curls / favorite: leg lifts
Sarah: least favorite: kettle squats / favorite: weighted Russian Twists

What do you think makes Fit Crew different from other gyms that you have tried in the past

Prior to coming to Fit Crew, we had a membership at a “corporate” gym. Even though we were “comfortable” there, it wasn’t until we joined Fit Crew, that we realized how much we were missing. There are two main things that make Fit Crew stand out: ACCOUNTABILITY (Andrew doesn’t let you get away with anything, lol) and COMMUNITY (Everybody, both trainers and members, are great!)

 

What do you like to do when you’re not training at Fit Crew?

We love boating, traveling and taking care of all of our critters at home.

Tell us a fun fact that we might not already know about you

One of the job hazards of being veterinarians is accumulating pets in the family. We have a few: four dogs, seven cats, five horses, two bearded dragons, six parrots, a goat, pig, a guinea pig, ferret, a pacman frog, and a turtle.

  • Deb speaks fluent German

  • Tom has an identical twin and is a Master Scuba Diver

  • Sarah is a hunter / jumper horseback rider. She’s also the cat whisperer and can help restrain any feral cat

  • Olivia: loves horseback riding, painting, volleyball and cross country
