May Athlete of the Month

Wes Robinson

Meet our athlete of the month, Wes Robinson. Wes’ nomination came shortly after he made major life decision to help a family member by undergoing a bone marrow transplant. Shortly afterwards he was right back in the gym to train, showing his dedication to those close to him as well as his health.

Wes has been with Fit Crew for over six years, bringing his unique laugh, kind demeanor, and playful attitude along with him. While all the coaches love seeing Wes walk through the door, no one is quite as happy as Trigger - Wes is hands down one of Trigger’s favorite clients too.

Congratulations, Wes!

Tell us about yourself.

I was born and raised in Bradenton. My dad is from here and mother from Alabama. I grew up primarily playing baseball but wish I would have listened to my father back then and focused on golf. That sport is very hard to take up later in life. I have an older and younger brother. Naturally, I am blessed with middle child syndrome. Yet, I like to think that I inherited the best of each brother’s traits.

How did you get started at Fit Crew?

I had wanted to try it out for a while after the few times of going into another gym by myself was not working out too well. I had a couple of friends around that time highly recommend Fit Crew and have been happy here ever since.

What has been your proudest athletic moment?

Winning this prestigious award over the likes of Doug Hall and Michael Terry

What’s your favorite exercise? Least favorite?

I really like anything cardio. I am still waiting for my invite to do the parachute or ladder drill. I dislike Olympic Lifts. I have a bad wing and my knees are not what they used to be.

What do you think makes Fit Crew different from other gyms that you’ve tried in the past

I like the group suffering, or motivation - if you want to call it that. Unfortunately, I do not have the mentality to go to a normal gym and workout by myself. I have and will always need guidance and supervision.  Plus we have the best gym dog around.

What do you like to do when you’re not training at Fit Crew?

I have 2 English Bulldogs that occupy most of my free time

Tell us a fun fact that we might not already know about you.

I have thousands of ticket stubs to various sporting events and concerts that I have collected since childhood. They are stored in dozens of shoe boxes. I need to get them matted and framed, as I am sure I have accidentally thrown some away
