Athlete of the Month - Rebbecca Nehrboss
Rebbecca Nehrboss
We’re ringing in the new year with a new athlete of the month, Rebbecca Nehrboss!
Rebbecca has been with the gym for two and a half years and originally joined us while she was still in high school. She gives her workouts 110%, shows up for every event that she can, and is one of our kindest clients, always willing to help out in the gym or give encouragement to someone else during a workout.
We’re so proud of her for finishing her personal training certification and can’t wait to see what the future holds.
Congratulations, Rebbecca!
Tell us about yourself.
I am nineteen years old, born and raised here in Bradenton. I’ve never been athletic in terms of sports, but I’ve always prioritized my health and loved to exercise and move. I currently work at Publix where I just got promoted as office staff and just graduated from SCF with my associates in business. I recently “moved out” into an old shed that my dad renovated into an apartment for me on their property, so I’ve been having fun designing and decorating, and get to live right behind my family, whom I’ve always been very close to. The most important thing to me is my relationship with God. I am constantly trying to learn more of His love, grace, truth, and strength every day. He is so, so good to me and I strive to continuously praise and give glory to Him.
How did you get started at Fit Crew?
About two and a half years ago I got a little bored with my at-home HIIT workouts I did through an app, so I reached out to my cousin, Angela, who had been going Fit Crew for a while, and she brought me along with her! I’ve been hooked ever since and now I go 5-6 days a week including personal training with Kourtney!
What has been your proudest athletic moment?
I’m not sure I have a proudest moment, I’m just in love with the process of getting better every day and those small successes. However, I did get really excited when I climbed the peg board!
What’s your favorite exercise? Least favorite?
My favorite movements are those that target the hamstrings; romainian deadlifts, ghd hamstring curls, good mornings, etc. My least favorite is barbell walking lunges or barbell squats.
What do you think makes Fit Crew different from other gyms that you’ve tried in the past
I may be a little biased as I’ve never been a member of another gym before, but Fit Crew is extraordinary in my eyes. It’s so much fun! They constantly mix it up with fun movements, drills, and workouts that are challenging in best ways. But I think the greatest part of Fit Crew is the community and people. The trainers are extremely knowledgeable, so much fun, and are so good at being aware my capabilities and pushing me to be my best (which sometimes includes talking me out of my own head). The people are all so beyond encouraging, loving, and supportive. Fit Crew has become my second home and these wonderful people have become my family- Like I said, I’ve never been a member of another gym, but I’ve never heard anyone talk about their gym like that!
What do you like to do when you’re not training at Fit Crew?
My favorite thing to do is spend time with my family. They have a kind of love and sense of humor that you just can’t get enough of!
Tell us a fun fact that we might not already know about you.
Very few people know this, but I just got certified as a personal trainer! In search of something I love that I may want to pursue as a career, I found a program that would prepare me for the personal trainer certification exam within 5 weeks. I am a very nervous/ fearful person, so this was kind of scary for me, but I felt the Lord tell me “Jump”. So, I did, and I passed the exam, and I can’t wait to see where the Lord takes me next!
Also, my family raises grass-fed beef which is pretty cool!
